A week before my thirtieth birthday, I quit my stable, well-paying nursing job to pursue a career in writing. I wasn’t ready to relinquish the dream of finding an enjoyable and fulfilling career. I wasn’t ready to settle.
Three years later, I’ve written two novels, for which I’m seeking representation, and am about to begin writing a third.
I’m not naive about my chances for literary success. It’s a tough, competitive, tumultuous business. Perhaps I suffer from self-delusion or errant optimism, but I believe I will triumph.
I write fantasy and historical fiction under the pen name A. R. Shenandoah and live in Las Vegas with my kind and very indulgent husband, Steven. I blog about the craft of writing with my four critique partners at The Write Shelf.
